Organic mayo is one of those hard to find or expensive ingredients for me. When I learned I could make it myself I think the heavens opened! Okay maybe not that dramatic but I was pretty stoked about it.
There is just something satisfying about making your own food. If you look at the ingredient is store-bought mayo, there’s a good chance you don’t even know what some of the ingredients even are!
Have you looked up EDTA? If you have certain medical conditions, the side effects are very scary!
This recipe is four simple ingredients that you probably already have in your cupboard.
The first thing you’ll do is mix the egg with the hand mixer very well. Mix until the eggs are light and fluffly. Add the mustard in and mix. The key for this is to pour the oil in VERY slowly. If you pour it in all at once you’ll end up with egg slop. Yes I just coined that name HA HA.
I suggest pouring it a tablespoon at a time mix for about 30 seconds then add more oil. This allows the mayo to emulsify. Store in the fridge for 7 days. You cannot freeze this. This is so much better than the store bought stuff. Enjoy!
